February Work Project-Vauxhall Island Cleanup

Join JROC, Richmond Fire, Keep Virginia Cozy, and the JRPS for a cleanup of Vauxhall Island. We will be removing litter and larger items such as ancient bike frames, signs, and other garbage that has accumulated on the island and under bridges. Transportation to and from the island will be provided, but volunteers can paddle their own craft if desired. Email hello@jroc.net to sign up.

What to wear/ bring: JRPS will provide personal flotation devices and will have a limited number of waders for people to use. Keep Virginia Cozy will provide garbage bags, grabbers, and gloves. Volunteers should dress in sun-protective clothing appropriate for the weather and for being in the river, wear closed-toe shoes, and bring a water bottle and a snack. Volunteers can bring their own boat to paddle to/ from the island if desired (Canoes or rafts are best for being able to carry garbage). It is recommended that volunteers be up to date on the Tdap vaccine since we’ll be handling all sorts of garbage in the river.
