Cleaning Up The Canal

Cleaning Up The Canal

posted on July 13, 2017

A super JROC team cleared the James River and Kanawha Canal from Pumphouse to west of the Powhite Bridge of trash ‘islands’, a log blocking passage, and a section choked with pennywort and alligator weed. Many thanks to Tricia, Katie, Will, Sally, Martha, Patrick, Adam, Emily, Jamie, and Elijah for coming out on a toasty summer eve to make light work of a mile of garbage. Thanks for the rafts, Patrick, and to all for removing at least 4 large bags of bottles, cans, gross stuff, ‘Wilson’ and the voracious weed, which now lies rotting in the sun along the bank. Fantastic turnout and awesome job done! Join us next time – working in the JRP for RVA.
