Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Family, friends, and frost return, some welcomed, others met with trepidation. It is also an opportunity to look back on the year quickly coming to a close.
2017 was a big year for the James River Outdoor Coalition. This year JROC celebrated its 20th birthday. For 20 years JROC has been improving the James River Park System. This year was certainly no exception. Our projects this year included improvements at the 14th Street whitewater takeout, boardwalk extensions in the Wetlands, and upgraded safety and climbing equipment at the Belle Isle climbing wall.
This is also the time of end of year donations. In celebration of JROC’s 20th birthday we launched the 20 for 20 campaign. We wanted to raise one thousand dollars for every year of our existence. It has been a fantastic success. But, we can do more. An anonymous donor has pledged to match individual donations up to five thousand dollars. There is still over $1,400 left in that matching pledge. Please, in this season of giving, help improve the jewel of Richmond. Make a donation to JROC and keep improving the James River Park System.
