JROC helps build outdoor classroom in JRPS

JROC helps build outdoor classroom in JRPS

posted on March 19, 2022

JROC volunteers, along with Richmond Toolbank, Wounded Warrior Project, and a group of students from Maggie Walker Governor’s School made a team effort to assist in the construction of a new learning facility in the James River Park System.

Friends of the James River Park was awarded a grant from the Va. Department of Forestry to construct and install an outdoor classroom located next to and complimenting the education facility at Reedy Creek Headquarters.

JROC volunteers heeded the call to assist in the installation of 12 benches and worked alongside park staff and board members of Friends of James River Park to complete Phase 1 of the outdoor classroom project on Saturday, March 19th, The next phase will be completed by the James River Park System Operations team and involve adding a teaching kiosk and improving the nearby water access point so that students can safely gather samples and make observations. We extended our gratitude and appreciation to everyone that assisted in the completion of this project.
